Pathhead Congregational Church formally came into being in the autumn of 1867 with 23 members. In 1869 it was agreed that a chapel should be built, and this was completed and opened for worship in 1871.
Over the years there has been a succession of ministers and local leaders who have served the church and supported the membership in serving the local community.
Currently we have around 25 members and a number of friends who support the ongoing work of the church. We meet for worship each Sunday at 10.00am, with communion on the second Sunday of each month (we have an open table, where all are welcome including children) and tea and coffee after the service on the third Sunday of each month. At different times of the year we hold family services. We often join with other local churches for joint services during Advent and Holy Week. We also are working more closely with our sister Congregational Church, West End.
Through the week we host some community activities, including a dog class and the local Carers Choir, the Carefree Chorus. A Craft Group meets on Wednesday evenings, and once in a while we hold coffee mornings.
Some new people have joined with us in recent years, and the comment often is “you’re all really friendly!” we certainly try to be, and to offer a very uncluttered approach to Christian faith and worship.
